Luck of the Irish

LUCK OF THE IRISH

Busy day today new dryer delivered,
(how do we survive with out one)
Sunday School fellowship Party tonight.
OOPS !! can I bring decoration??? Not planned???
But could not pass up sharing by St. Patrick table and my find at a new-old antique store.
My dish alcoholic friend and I went to a local
Vintage glass show last weekend
and boy was that an eye opener.
Let me tell you there prices were not
my usual Thrift store prices.
We said it was like going to a
car show to window shop!
Needless to say I only found one
bargain and that was because I won
a $10.00 door prize that could
be used at any of the vendors.
So I did come home with one more
Anchor Hocking green juice glass. Sweet!!!

Boy have there price gone up
since I last purchased one.
Next we stop by a Thrift store
and found four more of my
Warren Kimble plates that
I have not used in a while.

Now for the Luck of the Irish find!
We spotted a Antique store  on the way down,
that I had not visited in years so we made
a stop on our way home and
I hit the jackpot  are the Irish pot of gold.
Instead of more words I'll show the pictures.

My find was 5 mugs with tags from Jo-Ann's
 originally marked $4.99 each, for
$5.00 for all 5,
 but wait there is more,
the entire booth was 20% off.
Yes they jumped right in my
hands and I did the happy dance
all the way to the counter.
I got all five for less than one cost originally.
That was a big Yea Haw for my pocket book.
Share my other finds soon!

I really had decided it was so late
that I would not even get my
St Patrick table together but as you
can see my mind was changed.
Here are a few more picture of a
very quickly thrown together table.

The only two new items on this table
are the mugs and my napkin rings.
You'll never guess what the
rings were to be used for!!!

Do you have a guess!!
They are ponytail bands.
Found them at Jo-Ann's 2 for $1.00

Really the colors do blend , don't know why the hats seem blue

Hope everyone has a great weekend
and  you enjoy St. Patrick's Day
Don't forget to wear that green!

Thanks for dropping by!

Fiesta!!!! Fiesta!!!!

Fiesta/Fiesta Dinner
Hope everyone is having a great Holiday weekend.
My plans are to go only where it is COOL!
Friday it was only a 105!
Can you say HOT!
Our calendars may be changing to September
 but for some reason
mother nature hasn't  changed her calendar.
Oh well if you live in Texas wait a day and
it will be 70 degrees..............I am ready.
******************
Big Jim and I hosted  a dinner for our
Church  fellowship group on Friday.
We never thought that it would be so hot.
Of course I  had to use the oven then add 20 people.
Our poor air conditioner never shut off.
We had planned to use the deck
but with it being on the West side of house
and not covered , inside we all had to be.
That means we I moved furniture and brought in tables.
I think hope that I am not the only one
who has crazy ideas at the last minute.
I decided to paint my folding chairs on Thursday morning and the dinner was Friday. I did it!
I was in our back yard painting
and kind of disturbed
some golfers with the shaking of the paint can.
That's the way it goes when you live on a golf course.
You know as a dish-alcoholic I could
NOT use paper or plastic.
I might have been banned from tablescaping <;)
***********************
With our menu being Mexican Fiesta
can you guess what dishes I choose to use.
FIESTA  of course!!!!!

I set up the appetizers and  cool drinks
as you entered.

Had early arrivals before I got  the appetizers out so no photos of the goodies.

*********************
I set my dinning room table for 8,
a extra round table for 8 and the card table for 4.
This may be an overload of photos but
I wanted to show all three tables.

Dinning Table
I began with a orange tablecloth.
Not only was the dinnerware Fiesta but also
the Fiesta Brand tablecloth.
I got on clearance at Ross several years ago.
The place mats are   from Dollar Tree,
just turned them vertical.
Then overlapped two for the center of the table.

Napkins are all orange on this table with
Sombrero napkin rings.
I Copied and cut each one out
and attached with double sided tape.

Center piece is a Fiesta pitcher
with colorful Dollar Tree artificial flowers.
The chair was a thrift find.
Charros salt pepper shakers have been in
my stash for awhile.
   Aren't they cute!
All the place setting had a different color of  a
Fiesta plate and flatware was a
variety of makes and colors.

 View of the completed table.

Extra Table of  8

This table was set with a yellow cloth and
round place mats of turquoise and orange
with a variety of Fiesta plates.
The glasses I used for all tables were
blue Libby which came from the
 outlet in Shreveport Mississippi.
These were purchased long
before I became a serious tablescaper.
The clear stripped glasses are Sango/Sue Zipkin,
which I scored really cheap at Goodwill awhile back. Napkins are bandannas from Hobby Lobby
with the same sombrero napkin rings.
Center piece is bring green Fiesta pitcher.
A loaner from my daughter
with artificial flowers and cactus candle
If you look close you can see
all three of the tables in  photo above.
Yes we were all in the same room.
Another set of  salt and pepper shakers
from my collection that was given
to me by my BIL many years ago.

See my newly paint chairs. Ye Ha!
The small bowls were used for Queso or salsa.
A surprise that I uncovered in my cabinet.
Yes, forgot I had them.

Table for Four
This is one of two of  vintage
Mexican table cloths that I own.
Wish I had taken  a photo before I set the table.
Mexico is embroidered in the center.
Again each setting is in a variety of colors
that I used on the other two tables.

We had a great time, with great food and wonderful fellowship.

Thanks for stopping by

Red, White & Blue Breakfast Room

In my earlier blog today I said I was going to have a series of blog as I pulled out all my patriotic decorations this year. I really had planned to post later in the week but I did not want to miss 200th week at Between Naps on the Porch! So this is going to be my second post for today.

If you have visited before you know that I have a seasonal tree in my breakfast room. At this time it is all decked out in Red, White & Blue. A closer look in another blog.

The sun was really bright. (my my windows sure look dirty cloudy) it's the sun right!
The table is set for breakfast for four.

Over all table

White lantern were used in my daughters wedding, it sets a top  a clear cake stand. My Mom picked up at a garage sale for $2.00 .  The hats, star salt shakers
(matching blue one is on the other side of the lantern),
small pitcher and small  star dish where shop at home fines.
The small strip bowls are from Targets $1.00 bin.

The plates are from Cracker Barrel, which were a Birthday gift from my Mom and Dad. There are two different patterns. They sit upon Oneida Wicker, this was a find at Goodwill a while back ,$10.00 for a place setting for 4 with serving bowls.  I danced all the way to the car.
You may remember them.
Place mates are Dollar tree.
I must not forget the flatware I used these in last year 4th blog. I think they came from Marshall's or Ross can't remember. The butter dish is Fiesta.

Now you can see the other shaker. The red glasses again from my Mom she was going to sell them in garage sale and  grabbed rescued them. The cups are from Old Navy for several years they had different patterns for 3 or 4 years in a row. Wish they would bring them back.
The place card holder with the flags, I really don't know they were in my container when I unloaded this year.
Wish someone would straighten that desk!

The bakers rack holds serving items. The straw holder is really ice cream bowl for Collection Etc., last year sale item. Don't love to find things you forgot you had the blue drink dispenser was at the back of a cabinet.
In the middle are a vintage picnic salt and pepper shaker.
More of the Old Navy cups.
The second shelf holds more birthday gifts but from my daughter, the star dispenser was also a gift form her.

This is a birdhouse that I saw at Dollar General and didn't buy. Big Jim happen to be with me when Isaw it.
Of course  I went the next day to a differnet DG they didn't have. So as we all know I should have
bought it when I saw it.

Well last week I was back in the first DG to pick up other items and what was on the top shelf behind a flower pot.  It was really almost hidden from my eye site, (I am only 4'11 and yes I stretched out and brought it down in one piece. Happy Dance !!!!!!

I love to decorate with red, white & blue and yes I have a lot more to show you.
Please watch for part 3 OF A  RED, WHITE & BLUE JULY
