High Flying Flags

You may recognize the tablescapes below I borrowed them from Susan at BNOTP.  Susan thank you for giving me ideals and letting me know that I am not the only one that has a love for dishes, dishes and more dishes. You always have such ingenious tablescape ideas.

I am proud that we have the freedom to display our flags. I want to say to those who have served this country where I do have that freedom

Bizzare Tablescape Theme Ideas

Before I reveal the Tablescape ideas let me discript my last week.
On Friday night the museum where I work held there annual auction. We have been working on this for several months. Our theme this year was Camp Howze which was a miltary camp that was in our county during World War II. We had around 300 in attendance and over 275 items to auction off. We had a great turn out and with the help of numerous volunteers it was a great success. I am including a few photos of the Auction. This was tablescaping in a big way!!!!!
Stage Area
 Bandqet Room
 40 Tables
Our Theme was the USO/stage full of live auction items

The photo below shows myself (floral jumper) with
the Board Presdient and Co-Chairmans of the Auction
all dressed in the 1940 error. We did have loads and fun.
How did those women wear those high heels????

So needless to say with the auction and Mother's day a new table scape idea was not coming to  me.
Oh what a great Mother's day, family and no cooking. I did not cook as the family ordered food from a local tea room. We just warmed and enjoyed. Love those kind of meals. Gifts were great new dinning chairs from Big Jim, glass candlesticks from the daughter with a hamdcafted card and an hour massage from the son, I hit the jackpot. My mom even brought me  a pink glass candle holder.(the start of new collection)

Sorry just had to share Mother's Day. Now on to tablescaping ideas............................................
While trying to come up with a unique theme for a table scape  I decided I would check holidays in May. I goggled  holidays and  to my surprise Bizarre and Unique Holidays came up. Isn't it great what you can find by goggling. These are not your tradintional holdays, so I thought I would share my find. Below is a list of the May holidays, hope this will help those like me that sometime need a theme for a table scape. I think I will check this out monthly and plan my tablescapes.

Thrifting till you drop!!!!!

I hope everyone had a great Saturday as I did for it was Thrifting Day all DAY!!!!!!
My Saturday's are usually spent trying to recoup from my work week. Especially this time of the year. At work this is one of the busiest time as we are preparing for the annual auction on May 6. As we  are a non-profit organization we depend on this event as our largest financial support for the coming year. We have an average of 300 people and over 250 items to auction off. As you can guess there is a lot of preparations with a great number of our society members involved.  Nancy one of volunteers informed me that on Saturday  that she would also  be helping with the Delta Kappa Gamma garage sale to support there Scholarship fund. Of course my curiosity got the best of me and I made plans to rise early and head into to town to be among the first in the door. My mom is usually by companion on these acursions, when I called early she was still in bed but of course she jumped (out of bed) and said she was would be ready by the time it took me to drive the 7 miles into town.
Here is a sneak preview of one of the items that we uncovered at our first stop.

The sale was being held in an old Grain mill. Yes we live in a small town and you never know where you might find a terrific sale. We also found boxes that had not even been unpacked, don't you just love the thrill of the hunt. After an hour, and telling several other shopper that we were also shoppers. This is some of the items we unearth.  Even the ladies who were helping with the sale were jealous of what we uncovered.
Sorry for the quality of the photos they were all taken during the clean up(lots of dirt)at my mom's house the lighting was not great. This was a great day for Thrifting

 All items less than $20.00
 Metal Tray-Glass Tray-Americann candy Dish-Ice bucket-
coaster & 6 saucers
Yea for my pocket book<;)
 Bragging Rights----Cake Stand $4.00 Ebay $89.00
Dessert bowls unknown manufactor.
I think they are vaseline glass. 6 for $ 4.00

The small glass bowls are Jeanette Herringbone.($2.00 for 4). They were skattered all over the building. This was a great addition to my mom's collection.
 Wheat plates $1.50
17 garage sales today we visited 15 and one Thrift store.
