Shinning Finds

Hello to everyone, I really hope that all of you staying cool.

 I have not posted in awhile but somehow I going to be able to post twice in one day.

 I just wanted to show off two sets of sterling that I found at I think an incredible price.

Both of the sets were found at thrift stores in Texas. I am fortune that during my lunch hour I can go to different stores everyday.

The first set is Serenda 1944, by Wallace Harmony House I bought 12 pieces for $1.00 and it also had a couple of mismatched pieces included.

 

The next set is Sir Galahad 1927 by Reed & Barton Silver. I purchased this for $12.00 for 20 pieces.

             

They both are in good shape after a little polishing.

Sorry pictures are not very clean I  am still learning all the tricks.

A Texas Style High Tea

I hope everyone is staying cool. It has been100 or higher for several days here in Texas.

In a past post  I showed you photos of our annual auction for the museum where I work.
 One of the items was a Texas Style High Tea for 10.
A friend of mine was the one who graciously donated the tea.

Her home is a colonial home that has been owned by only two families.

She also asks if I would help her and be a model for new fashions. She had arranged for local 4-H girls to model her vintage collection of clothing. I hope you enjoy the photos of her home and the  Texas Style High Tea.

The ladies were greeted with a cool iced peach tea.

They arrived all decked out in their finest!!!

Next they were given a tour of her beautiful home. Cathy (owner of the home not me) has only been in her new home for less than a year.

Cathy is a dish collector and a tablescaper. I hope to have her blogging soon.

This cabinet is in her guest powder room.

Cathy is wearing a Neiman Marcus apron, one of her thrift finds.

Oh yes she is also thrift shop shopper.

These two close friends of Cathy helped with the serving.

The blonde on the right was also a model of the new fashions.

Cathy menu consisted of scones, chicken salad, finger sandwiches, fruit compote and of course  your choice of 6 types of hot tea. Each tea was servered in there own unique tea pot. She did all the cooking and preparations.

We ended the tea with strawberry sorbet and petit fore’s.

Oh, yes we had a short dance around the room to 50’s music.

A wonderful and fun afternoon was enjoyed by all.
