Table in Green with the Retirement Blahs!

I need advise everyone!
How do I get out of the retirement
"Blahs"
I am calling it.
Here is what is going on:
1. Sleeping doesn't come easy
2. No real energy
3. Task don't get completed
4. Getting dressed is now overrated

OOPS! this kind of sounds like Depression laziness.
OK got to get myself in gear
I have two function here at
my house in about two weeks.
Meals to plan for 20 or more at each function.

I have been keeping up on checking out all the wonderful blogs and tablescapes.
Telling myself I am getting ideas
for my tables and I have decided ,
that is a good thing.

Looking back on my past post
found a table that I posted and
remembering how
I always worked a full day and
then got my table ready to post.

Below is my table that  I threw  put together a while back when I had sold my dining table.

Guess I better get myself on a
schedule and stick to it.

This is one of my unfinished task. The Polka Dots make me smile.

Thanks for stopping by y'all.

  1. Oh, your table settings are so lovely.

I set the table each night with cloth napkins, colorful dishes and flatware, but our table is small so I have no room for a centerpiece. When we have company, I add a centerpiece, but remove it for dinner.

I am the opposite of you. I spent the first month of retirement doing so many projects that I was exhausted. The second month I settled down to a more normal project/exercise/activities. And now, we got a puppy last week so my retirement is spent feeling like a new mama. It is fun, but exhausting and non-stop.

Hope you get motivated soon. It sounds like you will be plenty busy.

  2. Hi Cathy...Sorry about the retirement blues, I have to say my blog helped that go away, I was also recovering from an illness...I had always known work for so long, I loved staying home, but needed something...I looked at blogging as my magazine, the story the photos the proofing then finally publishing...getting to know folks followed...Your tablescape is so cool...I would add a white tablecloth to make everything pop then put placemats and all the rest on, add flatware, you might like to double up on the napkins to add a little white nap to each and then put on the salad plate...it will be smashing...you have so many pretty things to work with...for now, come on over for some watermelon and I have your drink ready for you...I am a new follower and I will be back again...hang in there you are gonna be increible at this...Phyllis

  3. That vintage forest green is to die for...I love that table setting. I don't know how to get out of the retirement blues other than to keep yourself very busy! Decorating projects like your wonderful tablescapes are a great place to start.

  4. Love polka dots and color, so I'm loving that table. I think retirement is just a huge adjustment compared to the daily work grind. Enjoy your settling in period!

  7. Hi Cathy,
It's so nice to meet you...and thanks for dropping by my site!
When did you retire? This is my second year of retirement and I've had some of the same issues you wrote about. I was an elementary school teacher and worked long, long days and then evenings too. I always enjoyed my summers but really liked the routines during the year. But after 29 years, I was ready for a change. People who had retired before me told me that I'd know when it was time. And yes, I did "know". Then I had a retired friend also tell me that when you do leave, you need to have a hobby. That is so true too!!! For me, going from being SUPER busy to NOT being super busy was quite an adjustment. So cheer up my friend, you are not alone, what you're going through is very normal. And I think you've already got a great hobby, tables! These two you posted are so pretty! The green is stunning and the orange is just plain fun!!!
Keep your chin up, it will get better and if you ever need any encouragement, just let me know!

  13. Cathy, I love the green tablescape. I believe we have the same taste in dishes. I have my Mom's "Burple" glasses and I have collected the green and red "Charm" pattern for a long time. However, my cups and saucers are square as well. Mom had the "Charm" pattern in red and that is what got me started on those.
I love the yellow and red table. Great color combo and I love your rooster.
I retired a few years before my hubby. I did fine. After he retired I have had a difficult time adjusting. He really put a damper on my exploits. He is like having a 2 yr old around but I do love having him near as well. Go figure!
